0:25
proper way to install accessories on
0:26
shipping containers without further ado
0:29
let me show you the quick and easy way
0:31
to install this lockbox
0:32
before you get started make sure you at
0:34
least have a marking pen a drill with a
0:37
pilot bit and drill bit and a 5 8 wrench
0:40
or socket when ordering this lock box
0:44
there are two options the lock box by
0:46
itself or the lock and lock box combo
0:49
included with the lock box will be two
0:52
sets of carriage bolts one for
0:54
non-insulated containers and one for
0:56
insulated containers there'll also be
0:58
the flat washers and nylock nuts
1:02
the back washer plates and the lock
1:04
receiver it is important to note that
1:06
the back washer plates double as the
1:08
marking tool and i'll get to that
1:10
shortly so let's get into marking out
1:12
your container prepping it for drilling
1:14
your holes
1:16
lock boxes are typically required for
1:18
used containers most one-time use
1:20
containers already have lock boxes on
1:22
them at the factory used containers
1:24
often have this flat bar here on the
1:26
right door so we find the best place to
1:29
install this is anywhere from about 42
1:31
inches up to 60 inches
1:33
high off the from the bottom of the
1:35
container there so
1:36
uh anywhere from here to here the large
1:39
washer plate will be installed on the
1:42
right door and the small washer plate
1:44
will be installed on the left door first
1:47
take your large washer plate and tuck it
1:49
up tight against the door seal on the
1:52
right door
1:53
mark the bottom of the washer plate then
1:56
mark both the holes take your washer
1:59
plate horizontally and level it across
2:02
to the left door use the large washer
2:04
plate as a ruler to continue that line
2:07
to the left door
2:08
next take your small washer plate line
2:11
it up with that line you just made and
2:13
now mark the two holes
2:15
you now have your lock box marked out
2:18
where your pilot holes need to be
2:20
drilled the next step is to drill your
2:21
holes it's a good idea to center punch
2:23
your holes prior to drilling we like to
2:25
use a pilot bit and then come back later
2:28
with a larger bit or a step bit a quick
2:30
tip this is a hollow wreck tube so
2:32
you'll be drilling through two layers of
2:34
steel from the front side you can drill
2:36
through all four of the holes don't go
2:39
through the second layer on both of them
2:41
just choose one and go through the
2:42
second layer and i'll explain further
2:44
why that is so i've drilled through the
2:45
first layer of the wrecked tube on the
2:47
doors now choose either the top or
2:49
bottom and hold your drill nice and
2:52
level and drill through one of the holes
2:54
on either door
2:55
now it's a good idea to grab your
2:57
marking tools and drill the final two
2:58
holes from there as you can see the
3:00
bottom hole is already drilled now i
3:03
like to grab the back washer plate
3:06
and line this up perfectly
3:08
make sure that you're nice and uh plumb
3:10
with the door
3:12
and then mark the center of this hole
3:14
and then i'll go through that now with
3:16
the pilot bit
3:18
same thing on the left door but make
3:19
sure you're using the small washer plate
3:29
now switch from your pilot bit to your
3:31
larger bit and finish drilling all the
3:33
holes
3:40
the next step is to grab your carriage
3:42
bolts make sure everything fits and
3:44
lines up properly for this container it
3:46
is a non-insulated 40-foot
3:49
used container so for 20s and 40s the
3:52
corrugated cans steel non-insulated
3:55
these are the bolts to use it's only the
3:58
reefer vans or 53s you know things that
4:00
are a four inch thick door that's what
4:03
the the insulated carriage bolts are for
4:05
so
4:06
grab a couple carriage bolts
4:09
on the back of the lock box
4:12
there's slots here where you just slide
4:14
these in
4:16
and give them a turn
4:18
and they lock in on the diamond shape
4:20
there so that's basically your wrench on
4:22
this side of the box
4:24
now if you hold these two and hold it up
4:26
to the door
4:32
get them to slide in
4:34
and then same thing on the receiver side
4:35
we just make sure that the carriage
4:38
bolts go right through the can then
4:39
we'll jump on the inside and tighten
4:40
them up so the proper order here is the
4:43
back washer plate
4:45
then your
4:46
two grade eight washers
4:49
and then
4:50
the
4:52
7 16 nylock
4:54
nuts
4:55
you'll tighten these up with a 5 8 flat
4:58
wrench or socket
5:01
once you have the lock box bolted on
5:03
move to the left door and install the
5:05
lock receiver
5:10
[Music]
5:29
make sure the receiver and lock blocks
5:31
are installed nice and plump and test
5:33
your doors and make sure everything
5:34
clears
5:37
once you're happy with the way that the
5:38
doors operate the final step is just to
5:40
lock up your containers so we like to
5:43
use the 80 millimeter three and one
5:45
eighth shackle lock here here's the
5:47
stainless steel one one thing to know
5:49
about these they typically come four
5:50
keys with them they also come key to
5:53
like or key different so if you have
5:55
multiple containers you can get the key
5:56
to like version and have one key to open
5:59
all your containers which is really
6:00
handy so try this out here
6:04
[Music]
6:06
to finish it off now that you have a
6:08
security system installed there 24 hours
6:10
a day you might as well put your
6:12
security systems decal on the container
6:17
so that right there is how you properly
6:19
install a container modification world
