We will have videos on all these topics soon!VIDEO
In this video, we'll show you the quickest, cleanest,
and safest way to remove shipping container doors. Follow along.
Hi, I'm Channing McCorriston, The Container Guy.
If you're cutting off your container doors, the odds are you're doing it for a reason.
You likely either need to replace your container doors with a newer set because yours are damaged;
you'll be finishing that wall with maybe a man door and some glass for a container home or cabin;
or finally, you may want to install a roll-up door or roll shutter door in place for ease of access.
The best piece of advice I can give you is make sure that your doors are fully closed and latched
when you perform this. If you have your doors open and swinging, it's going to be a nightmare.
Some people try to cut the whole section of the corner post out. Don't do that. All you need to do
is make little zips through the hinge pin -- it's eight
quick little cuts -- and that whole door is now free from the container.
And so here's the hinges. And the hinge butts are welded into the corner post here.
And so there's a -- a rod, it's a half inch or 12 mil round rod, that goes through this hinge.
And so what we want to do is take our cut off wheel
and just sink it and cut off the uh the hinge rod there.
And then if you do that on all four hinges, this door will now be disconnected from the container.
So the steps here are, make sure that your doors are fully closed
and latched. Just so you're not fighting gravity, cut the bottom first and then
the top. Then open the doors one at a time normally, and have help. Lower the door down,
carry it and set her on a pallet. Do the same thing with the second door and you're done.
And so this here, I just grabbed one of the hinge pins that came out of there.
So that is the 12 millimeter, cold rolled round rod. And so, if you are wanting to put doors back
on your container, you'll need that rod and then there's some hinge butts that you would weld back
in. And the process for that would be, you install the hinge butts, install the round rod in there,
weld them onto the door, hold the door up, latch it, and then weld it to the the corner post.
We will be filming other videos on how to
reinstall container doors. We'll also have other videos on how to install
a roll-up door or an exterior roll shutter door in its place. And we'll likely even finish these
as cabins or little hunting shops for people so. Uh, stay tuned on all of our other videos.
